QuizzTaker placed #2 @ Startup Weekend Blacksburg!

An engaging, eye-opening, amazing experience this weekend indeed… Just as Start-up Weekend said themselves “What unites all attendees is a common interest in entrepreneurship: whether a serial entrepreneur or new to the startup scene, every attendee is interested in working with a like-minded, motivated and skilled team to develop a product or business in one weekend. If this sounds like you, this is the event for you!” However, i’d tweak that a little bit and recommend the event to anybody whose willing to educate themselves in business and entrepreneurship over a course of 54 hours. Individuals who believe that they can’t start a business, they can’t find a developer, they can’t create a proper business plan, they aren’t creative enough, all need to attend start-up weekend to see how simple it is to put your idea into motion.

54 hours… 54 hours is what it took to create QuizzTaker and get it moving from the ground up. I’d like to give a BIG shout out and thanks to all of the team members who participated in the development of QuizzTaker, from the coding, to the business, to the people who’ve “liked” our Facebook page in support of us. I’d also like to congratulate Resume-X.com for winning first and Orzup for third. Everyone had great ideas and we all need to continue to tweak and improve what we have to become a competitor in the market. QuizzTaker placed second at the event and this is just the start to a long journey, well… Time to get to work!

Startup Weekend, Day 3!

I’ve been super busy with start-up weekend and haven’t had time to update my blog, however, here is a quick update of whats going on.

I’m part of a team called QuizzTaker, we’re a group who essentially takes the iClickers used in college classrooms and integrates them into the schools infrastructure making it simpler for students to test and professors to grade as well as introducing a new applied approach to testing. The goal of the start-up is to revolutionize the education industry in the testing sector. If we start by teaching students applied testing rather than memorization-based testing students will keep the knowledge more readily available in the mind as well as curbing dishonest behavior on testing.

Okay, so what else?

QuizzTaker is a multipurpose, fully integrated solution for tests, quizzes, and classroom interaction. Our web based and mobile app tool allows instructors to create advanced, technology enhanced test items that go beyond the classic multiple choice and true and false. QuizzTaker fully integrates with learning management systems (LMS) like Scholar and Blackboard.

Features

Question VarietyWith QuizzTaker, you are not limited by multiple choice answer quizzes and tests. Instructors can use an intuitive interface to create questions with text responses, more than one answer, and interactive images.

Integration

Most testing systems require that the instructor manually transfer scoring results into their LMS. QuizzTaker directly integrates and uploads results and grades to the LMS database.

Price Value

QuizzTaker is web based or a mobile app. Many test and quiz taking tools require expensive hardware purchases. For a low cost app license, teachers and students can use QuizzTaker on mobile devices, tablets, or laptops.

I’ve sat here sipping on my chai and came upon the sudden realization that I cannot accomplish my goals in life without work. After all, just as Vidal Sassoon said, work comes before success in the dictionary. My inspiration came from my older brothers work with a startup that is gaining a lot of traction in the DC area, EventStir.
